How does voice therapy work?

Using a perceptual-acoustic voice evaluation we assess your vocal quality, pitch, loudness and resonance. If a voice problem is identified, we will develop an individualized treatment plan to achieve the best possible voice outcome. This includes a multidisciplinary approach, such as a videostroboscopic examination by an otolaryngologist to rule out any vocal fold pathology.

Voice disorders

Voice disorders can develop for a myriad of reasons, such as vocal straining from screaming or yelling, laryngeal changes, neurological disorders, etc. We treat vocal fold pathologies including:

  • Muscle tension dysphonia

  • Nodules

  • Polyps, Cysts

  • Reflux (LPR)

  • Vocal fold paresis or paralysis

  • Vocal weakness due to aging

  • Neurological disorders (voice problems related to stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, MS)

  • Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion

  • Spasmodic dysphonia
