Christine is not just a coach, she’s the real deal

I was in a constant struggle with depression due to my voice. Singing felt like a difficult chore, leading to vocal fatigue and a sense of hopelessness. Christine, recommended by a trusted ENT, stood out online as one of the few voice specialists in Los Angeles. Her dual focus on rehabilitating voices and working with singers made her the perfect fit for my needs.

Working with Christine proved transformative for both my voice and mental state. Her extensive knowledge and experience in handling cases like mine, coupled with her optimism and encouraging nature, resulted in significant improvements. The key highlight of us working together was the renewal of my faith in overcoming the challenges in my singing journey, a feat made possible by Christine's invaluable support.

Christine is an accomplished singer, and she also has extensive experience rehabilitating people with voice issues. She brings a unique combination of skills to the table, setting her apart from other voice coaches. While there are many voice coaches who focus on singing and others who work with speech therapy, Christine's expertise spans both realms. Her comprehensive skill set makes her an exceptional coach for anyone navigating similar challenges.

In my ongoing journey, I have made substantial strides, thanks to Christine's guidance. Her support has been vital in my progress, and I highly recommend her to anyone facing voice-related struggles. Christine is not just a coach; she is the real deal.

I couldn't be more happy with the results I achieved

I had completely lost my voice and could not speak.  I was put on disability by my work and wasn't able to work due to my voice condition.

Christine was a life saver.  Her personable approach and skills in treating my condition were paramount.  She put together a customized protocol that got me talking again.  She also provided emotional support when I felt like I wasn't progressing fast enough or too hard on myself for the recovery.

Christine retrained me how to speak differently, helping my voice heal.  There was a time I thought I may never be able to speak properly again.  With her expertise - I am very happy to be able to communicate with my voice again.

She's a professional, her craft as a voice coach is very personable.  She is detail-oriented, compassionate, and understands the challenges you are facing with your specific condition- but very clinical in the sense of her approach to getting you back to vocal health.

I couldn't be more happy with the results I achieved with Christine's help and expertise. Healing is a process and it takes time...if you are looking for tangible results then she is the coach for you.

Christine is incredible when it comes to voice work, and even though every individual may have different voice problems, she tailors it in a way to help specific voice problems. I would highly recommend her to anyone with voice problems.”

I had a total renewal in my professional singing career

“My singing voice was strained and when my problem continued for several weeks I knew I needed help. This was the first time in 50 years as a professional singer that I had a problem with my voice so I started to work with Christine.

She zero-ed in on the voice problem and knew what to teach me to recover. Christine systematically strengthened my singing and speaking voice, carefully balancing rest and retraining. During the weeks I worked with Christine my singing and speaking voice came back to normal.

My biggest success working with Christine was getting rid of my apprehension about my future vocal performance. I was worried about my voice returning to normal, and she skillfully alleviated my concern for the future.

I had a total renewal in my professional singing career as a result of rediscovering methods of strengthening my instrument, and making my voice healthy again.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Christine. She has a wonderful warm personality and helped me recover quickly. She is both technically skilled and a joy to work with. Christine makes you feel comfortable and inspires you to improve.

Working with Christine is clearly paying off!

“Christine is a miracle worker apparently…

my daughter, who is an actor and singer, has been with Christine for only two months and after THREE YEARS of auditions, she booked her 1st voiceover job!! I am in disbelief! Thank you so so much for your work with her - clearly it is paying off!"

— D.D. (mom of 15-year-old actor/singer)

Not only did Christine restore my voice, but she was able to help me lose the anxiety about the process

“I had a condition where my vocal cords had started to decay, causing bouts of laryngitis and fits of coughing. Christine was able to make the daunting process of regaining my vocal capabilities into smaller, digestible lessons and exercises that habituated the required behaviors and adjustments. All I had to do was follow instructions and believe in the potential for change, and Christine did the rest. As a result I achieved a much, much stronger and consistent voice, more vocal range, and the ability to speak without coughing interruptions.

As a live television producer, having a consistently strong voice is a crucial work requirement. Not only did Christine restore my voice, but she was able to help me lose the anxiety about the process.

Christine is a joy to work with: friendly, professional, talented. I feel truly blessed that I was referred to her and I would encourage anyone with vocal challenges to seek out Christine before getting surgery or doing anything radical about his/her problem(s).”

— Mark M. (producer)

I feel my voice is in its best shape after I work with Christine

“I started working with Christine because I wanted to learn more about my voice, how to use it, and how to heal my vocal nodules. I have learned a tremendous amount of things about my vocal habits and how to adjust my sound for a healthier, more sustainable way of speaking and singing.

Christine is very helpful and kind for every meeting I get to have with her. I’m always proud of how much we are able to accomplish through a Zoom meeting together. I feel my voice is in its best shape after I work with Christine!

My biggest challenge sometimes was just wrapping my head around how to improve my voice as a very visual learner. Christine is always so kind to explain it in all different ways for me and answer all of my questions. I feel much more confident in how to use my voice now.

I would definitely recommend Christine to anyone looking to improve their voice! I really appreciate the way she works with my schedule, shows up on time, pushes me to my best abilities, and recognizes my growth when I’m being too hard on myself. I always look forward to our appointments because of her amazing coaching!

My voice is much stronger now!

Christine is a fantastic therapist. She is able to facilitate voice training with warmth, patience, and wonderful skill. She makes the vocal exercises memorable so that I can continue the practice of voice warm ups on my own. I also have benefitted from neck and face exercises and vocal relaxation massage that make the voice stronger and makes me be able to talk longer and with less strain on the vocal cords.

I started working with Christine after I visited my ENT due to vocal cord strain. I had lost my voice almost completely and was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules. I didn’t want to go through surgery and decided to see if I could strengthened my voice instead.

After working with Christine for a few months, I noticed that my voice was stronger. She taught me to utilize certain techniques so as not to irritate my vocal cords. She was very specific in how to speak so that I could be understood and not run out of air in mid-sentence. She taught me how to lift up my voice especially at the end of a sentence when I was dragging my voice and I feel that my voice is much stronger now.

Christine is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help with their voice.”

— Alicia M. (attorney, public speaker)

I am no longer in pain when I talk!

“I had a nodule on my vocal cord and needed help. I was so skeptical before I started therapy but, after talking to Christine, she did such a great job of explaining the process that I was all in. Even though we did the therapy on Zoom, she was able to notice what I thought seemed like minute details in the way I was projecting my voice wrong. Her instructions on what I needed to fix were always easy to follow and they always came with helpful explanations for why they were important.

Christine was very supportive and easy to work with. I always looked forward to my weekly voice therapy with Christine. She gave me the tools I needed to get better.

My biggest success while working with Christine was that I completely changed the way I've been talking my whole life. I no longer feel that horribly painful lump in my throat. I've stopped vocal frying and I am able to keep my voice open and in an even tone.

I am no longer in pain when I talk! Thanks to you, Christine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

— Jessica W. (mother, vocal athlete)

Christine was extremely helpful in regaining my voice after Covid

Christine came highly recommended to me by my laryngologist. My voice was compromised due to vocal cord nerve damage associated with being on a ventilator due to Covid. The unknowns of why my voice has not come back completely are a medical mystery. However, Christine has done so much to help me get this far. Christine was very encouraging, positive, and extremely helpful in trying many methods of therapy to help me regain my voice. I really enjoyed working with her and I highly recommend Christine to anyone who needs help with their voice.”

— Fay O. (retired singer, Covid survivor)

I was devastated and Christine helped me get my life back!

“I was diagnosed with vocal nodes after months of struggling to speak and sing. My goal was to be able to handle my normal vocal load, not a small goal considering it includes teaching full time, singing professionally and raising three kids. When I first met with Christine I thought that I would need to choose between continuing to teach and perusing vocal performance. I was devastated.

Christine’s treatment was comprehensive and efficient. I felt like my time was always used effectively and left with plenty to keep me working until the following appointment. She helped me to stay focused on my achievements and progress. Christine is excellent in what she does and I highly recommend her.

I am now able to speak sustainably anytime I want and sing with an even larger range than before. I can spend the day talking around the pool and still sing with my full range after the kids are in bed. Singing along in the car is effortless now, and fun. Singing hasn't been this effortlessly fun for me in years.

As silly as it seems, my biggest accomplishment is singing with the radio in the car. Being able to sing with the radio means that I am able to hit the notes in my range that were difficult before, but more importantly it means that my children get to see me doing something that I love. For years I couldn't sing along because I had to save my voice for a performance or a lecture, or had to let it recover from talking with friends at dinner in a loud restaurant. Being free to do something as simple as singing in the car means that I have gotten my life back.

— Lisa W. (singer, teacher, mother)

Christine is uniquely knowledgable to help top level performers

“Christine Sofiane is a very gifted therapist. A singer herself, she knows voice production not only therapeutically but artistically as well and is uniquely knowledgable to help top level performers as well people of all ages with speech or voice disorders. I would describe her as both intuitive as well as technically knowledgeable. Christine diagnosed an inner ear problem I had that had been missed by three doctors and set me on the path for complete recovery.”

— Bonnie M. (writer, actress, artist)

I was pleasantly surprised that my problems could be solved!

“Christine was recommended to me to help with inconsistencies I was having with my singing voice as well as huskiness in my speaking voice. Her explanation of how the vocal chords work was very clear and helped in the understanding the role the exercises she prescribed played in correcting my problems. With a limited number of sessions I was able to see progress and positive change in both my singing and speaking. I was pleasantly surprised that my problems could be solved. Christine was wonderful to work with, always encouraging with a positive attitude. I would highly recommend her as she is very knowledgeable and skilled in her profession.

— Marie R. (singer)

Christine rescued my voice!

“Christine rescued my voice! She quickly assessed my problems, all areas that needed to be strengthened or corrected, and effectively designed and taught me a comprehensive rehabilitation program tailored for my voice. I had the dreadful experience of losing my singing voice due to multiple factors, which is an extremely stressful dilemma for a performing musician. I visited a laryngologist who determined I had vocal atrophy and recommended voice therapy.

I met with Christine and showed her the footage from the scope and she immediately pointed out some spots on my vocal folds that looked suspect (the doctor missed them), and recommended additional testing to rule out problems in addition to atrophy. Christine gave me referrals to some top laryngologists and additional testing indeed revealed that I had more going on, such as acid reflux, which impacted my voice as well. Christine showed me some strategies on how to cut down acid reflux and taught me effective techniques for my voice.

With Christine's help my singing voice has quickly returned. She is still helping me to correct some lifelong bad singing habits but it feels great to be able to rely on my voice again with confidence. I highly recommend her!
Thank you, Christine!”

— Rich S. (performing musician)

Christine taught me so many tricks for projecting properly without hurting my voice

“I had vocal polyps and was recommended to Christine by my laryngologist. I saw her every other week for about 4-5 months and would still be seeing her if I could! She helped me with proper breathing technique and basic vocal exercises to help alleviate tension in my vocal cords. I work in news and use my voice professionally, so I was stressing about the strength in my voice, but Christine taught me so many tricks for projecting properly without hurting my voice. She made sure I really understood an exercise properly before moving on to the next exercise. She's patient and so informed.”

— Romina P. (news anchor)

Christine has given me the tools I need to be successful in my life

“I was referred to Christine by my doctor, after having suffered from right side vocal cord paralysis due to laryngeal nerve damage. I was unable to communicate/talk effectively. My voice was very raspy, it did not last long, and did not have great range. I also struggled with gagging sensations whenever I would overexert my voice. Since working with Christine I have noticed significant improvements in the tone and quality of my voice. I can now communicate effectively and have been able to return to work and have my life back. It was a long slow recovery but with the aid of Christine and her knowledge and dedication I was able to regain a sense of normalcy and have my life back.

Overall I had a great experience with Christine, and felt she was a very skilled, professional and caring therapist. She was supportive, and always there to help me navigate any hurdle we met in my recovery. Especially when COVID started she found a way to continue to work with me via Zoom and our appointments were just as effective, and she was very engaging. Christine is very easy to talk to and you really get the sense that she wants what’s best for you and will do all she can to help you achieve your goals.

The results I have achieved have greatly impacted my daily life; in the sense I finally have a huge part of my life back. I can now communicate effectively and no longer have to worry that others cannot hear or understand me. I was able to return to work, which was my biggest hurdle and goal. Yes, I still have some vocal fatigue and gag issues from time to time, but Christine has given me the tools I need to be successful and live my life! I highly recommend her for anyone who has voice issues.”

— Alex W. (RN)

After just one session with Christine my voice opened up!

“I’m so grateful for Christine. I started to experience some uncomfortable tension in my throat and my voice sounded strained. As a singer and voice teacher I depend on my voice and I was unable to find relief through my usual vocal warm-ups. However, after just one session with Christine my voice opened up! Christine’s exceptional therapy approach and vocal relaxation massage provided instant release and my throat became relaxed and open and so did my voice. It was amazing!

Christine was very professional and present when she was working with me. I definitely will work with her again.”

— Jahna P. (singer, voice teacher)

Working with Christine has brought my voice back!

As a physician, my voice is integral to my livelihood and I wanted to work with the best to address my voice problems. I began working with Christine because I became incredibly hoarse, and was unable to communicate comfortably or perform my work responsibilities. Given a choice [from my ENT] between a local speech therapist, or "the best speech therapist, who is not in the area", I chose the latter, and that was Christine! She was very easy to work with, accommodated my hectic schedule, and even though I was a challenging patient, her support and faith in me never wavered! Christine is bright, incredibly pleasant, listened to my concerns, and most importantly was VERY patient with me. Working with Christine has brought my voice back. I also gained an awareness of patterns and habits that contributed to the chronic vocal strain I was experiencing. I can now relax my facial muscles and mouth, add breaths to my rapid dictations, and bring my voice more "forward" in a pattern that is more sustainable in the long run. I am grateful to be functional, and I have Christine to thank for it!”

— Heidi H. (physician)

The effect of voice therapy has been life changing

“Christine is a dedicated, knowledgeable, conscientious and sensitive therapist. With variety of background, Christine has been instrumental to me achieving a better voice beyond my intention. I learned about improving my voice and singing in a way I never knew existed. The effect of voice therapy has been life changing, from numerous physical aspects, like the basics of posture and proper breathing to enhancing emotional well-being and beyond. I am now able to use my voice all day long and give speeches without getting tired. I no longer have to repeat myself to be understood, which used to be an ongoing struggle for me. Christine has taught me more than discovering my voice and the experience definitely has surpassed my expectations.”

— Abner S. (dentist, public speaker)

My voice has maintained stronger than ever

“Christine is a wonderful therapist! I have a vocal polyp on one side of my vocal cords that has caused me hoarseness and vocal fatigue since as long as I can remember. We were able to start regular weekly vocal lessons utilizing vocal warm ups, exercises and measurements to determine the level of therapy that would be most beneficial. My voice has maintained stronger than ever, and when I feel my voice is weaker or struggling to function, I am able to refer to my exercises and notes to rest and strengthen once again. There will always be good days and bad days, but I now understand my voice better and know what I can and cannot do with it. This is particularly important as I hope to be a voice over actor one day! Thanks Christine!”

— Lauren W. (singer, actor)

Christine is such a professional and clearly knows her stuff

“I started working with Christine because I was experiencing vocal fatigue/pain not only in my work but also in everyday conversation. It got to the point where I thought I either had throat cancer or was in serious need of voice therapy. Luckily, it turned out to be the latter.

Christine is such a professional and clearly knows her stuff. I swear she has super sonic hearing abilities. But what I was most impressed with, other than her fox ears, was the patient, kind and non-judgmental way in which she gave me adjustments even after I made the same mistake for the 100th time. That's really something.

My biggest success is the increase in awareness I now have with my voice. It's not only helped in reducing any pain, but also helped in my work as an actor, specifically, and oddly enough, in my work with dialects. I now have the tools to adjust the way I'm speaking whenever I feel vocal fatigue or pain. Which means I can now have enough vocal energy to read to my son at night. You’re awesome, Christine. Thank you!”

— Ellen W. (actor)

I never could have imagined I would be able to hear MY voice again

“I started working with Christine because my left vocal cord became paralyzed after an acid reflux incident, that was caused in part by cancer. I was talking, literally like Minnie Mouse. I had no volume or capacity to say a vowel (hold a note) longer than about 10 to 12 seconds.

Thanks to Christine, I literally have my voice back. I can talk to neighbors across the yard again and now hold a note over 30 seconds! It is truly amazing the little details Christine picks up on when working with you. After several months of working with Christine, people couldn’t believe how much better I was speaking, and with volume. By the 6 month mark, I realized I was speaking and hearing my own voice again without much effort. It was a surreal moment for me and made me tear up. I never could have imagined I would be able to hear “my”voice again. I recently had a follow-up appointment with my ENT and he said my vocal cord was working again!

Christine was easy to work with and supported me fully throughout the process. She answered all my questions, held my hand during frustrating times, and she always kept the mood positive and fun.

You don’t realize how much you use your voice until it’s gone. I will be forever grateful to Christine and her help! I would absolutely recommend seeing Christine for your voice and speech needs!”

— Dan K. (pilot)

Christine helped me get back to healthy singing

“Christine is an amazing voice therapist. She has helped me sing freely even though I have nodules, which have made singing difficult for me. Her technique helped me bypass them and get back to healthy singing. I could not have done this without her! I am so grateful, and can’t thank her enough for her guidance and support! I’m finally in the right place vocally again, all because of Christine.”

— Kelly C. (professional singer)

She has truly helped me where no one could

“I have been going to Christine for three months. She is a wonderful therapist. She has been helping me to retrain my voice after throat surgery. I find her to be insightful with her knowledge of speech pathology. Christine is very clear in her teaching on how ones vocal cords work, and in the exercises she has me do and why. She is very patient, kind, caring and most of all she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. If you are seriously looking for a voice coach or are having problems with your speech I highly recommend Christine Sofiane Katzenmaier. She has truly helped me where no one could. Be sure to call her. She is great!”

— Marilyn B. (community volunteer)

Christine helped me realize I am not a total dud at carrying a tune

“Christine helped me realize I am not a total dud at carrying a tune, she taught me to recognize and carry 9 notes in only one half hour session. A miracle for me who had always been told I was tone deaf and couldn’t sing even though I loved to sing along I was always embarrassed to. She has also given me advice on how to control my gag reflex so that going to the dentist is not as much torture as it has been in the past, something I did not know could be done."

She is an extremely caring, patient and kind coach whom I highly recommend.
